Muthaiga Tea Co. is a proud woman owned enterprise. Our company was founded to showcase the artistry of African tea making and to enable people to widen their horizons beyond traditional teas and discover the uniqueness of the African soil held within our carefully crafted loose leaf teas.

Our founder trained at the prestigious UK Tea Academy© to become a Certified Tea Sommelier and proceeded to do a Master's tea blending course at the Cambridge Tea Academy©.  She is one of the first Tea Sommeliers of East Africa.​​ She also spent considerable time in Japan in various tea estates in Kakegawa, Shizuoka and Kyoto learning the techniques of Japanese tea processing, brewing, and ceremonies.

We source our teas from small holder farmers in Africa who encourage women entrepreneurship and support their local communities and are socially responsible members of their community.​

Our goal is to ensure value creation within Africa, in our tea production and blend global best practices with the artistry of Africa, through the finest loose leaf teas. We aspire to create unique blends that portray the African story, from traditional to contemporary and work with small holder farmers that share our vision to put African orthodox teas on the world map.
