At Muthaiga Tea Company, a proudly women-led team, we understand these cycles deeply because we’ve lived them. Our team is made up of mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends who’ve faced the emotional rollercoasters of menstrual cycles, the fatigue of pregnancy, the uncertainty of postpartum recovery, and the hormonal shifts of peri-menopause. We've experienced the highs, the lows, and the quiet resilience that defines womanhood. And in the heart of those shared experiences, we asked ourselves: What if there was a more natural way to support women through all of it? That’s how Lunara Leafies was born, a blend crafted by women, for women, to bring balance back to our bodies in every season of life.

From Lived Experience to Lunara Leafies...

Lunara isn’t just tea - it’s a reflection of what we’ve needed at different stages in life.

As teenagers, we struggled with painful cramps, breakouts, mood swings, and fatigue. Many of us were told to “take something for the pain,” often without being made aware of the long-term effects of relying on painkillers every month. We were never really given the know-how to dig deeper and find the why for any PMS related symptoms. All we really needed to know… was a simple imbalance in our hormones caused these symptoms.

As young adults, our bodies changed again. Some of us became mothers, navigating pregnancy hormones, fatigue, and dietary restrictions. Others focused on careers, feeling the emotional push and pull of high-stress environments combined with hormonal flux. And later, the slow arrival of peri-menopause - hot flashes, insomnia, brain fog, and the strange sense of aging before we’re ready.

Throughout these transitions, one truth remained: our bodies were speaking to us and we needed something that listened back.

So, we created Lunara Leafies, a women’s blend designed to gently support hormonal balance, naturally. Thoughtfully curated with organic ingredients that have been trusted by generations of women, it’s a blend we’re proud to stand behind, because it comes from us - for us.

At Muthaiga Teas – we are all about creating Blends with intentions behind them and creating rituals around Tea that allow us to share moments with our community. Our sole purpose is to appreciate tea, not just as a drink but as a way of life, incorporating it into our lifestyle and truly appreciating the healing qualities of this One Plant.

With this in mind, we drew inspiration from deep rooted Chinese tea culture where there’s a centuries-old tradition of the tea pet - small clay animals, often tortoises, kept on the tea tray during brewing. Before tea is poured into cups, hot water is first poured over the tea pet. The tortoise, symbolizing longevity, good fortune, and balance, absorbs the tea over time. It’s a ritual of respect, a way to cleanse, harmonize energy, and begin the tea experience with calmness and focus.

Muthaiga Teas Very Own TeaPet is Born – Zonkey... (Who would have thought a Zebra and Donkey could have such a beautiful marriage?!)...

Zonkey, our handcrafted Mathenge/Mesquite wooden teapet, represents a similar kind of meaning, one rooted in the lived experiences of women. A symbol of resilience, humility, and quiet strength. Like women, it shoulders burdens often unseen - carrying families, labor, and communities forward, steadfast and uncomplaining. Through the Lunara Leafies tea blend, we hope to honor you, reminding you that your strength, care, and quiet perseverance are truly seen and appreciated.
